Résumé / Abstract
Within the SW2S project, 8 devices have been developed for various user groups involved in a systemic approach of an improved safe way to school transportation. Deliverable 5.2 describes the bus driver support system that will deliver information to the school bus driver, in order to increase safety and comfort both for the driver and for the children at the bus stop, or inside the bus, during the route. The bus driver support on-board system will inform and warn the bus driver while allowing anticipation and decision taking. The warning information (content and HMI) devoted to drivers has been specified according to existing rules and recommendations at the European level (Commission recommendation of the 22/12/2006 regarding safe and efficient in-vehicle information and communication systems: update of the European Statement of Principles on Human machine interface (HMI) and international level (UNECE WP.29 Warnings Principles Document, "Statement of Principles on the design of high-Priority Warnings Signals for In-Vehicle Intelligent Transport Systems", report from the International Harmonized research Activities on Intelligent transport Systems). A set of use cases have been identified according to the results of the previous investigation conducted in the framework of the SW2S project. These use cases are presented in detail in Deliverable 1.3. The development was carried out in following steps: a first survey among bus drivers has been conducted in order to better understand and specify their context of use and their potential needs regarding functionalities that could be provided by the DSS ; based upon the results of this investigation, the functionalities and the HMI requirements of the DSS have been specified ; prototypes of ergonomic mock-ups have been designed presenting design solutions for each functionalities with 3 concepts of HMI displays: 2D map display, 3D map display and linear display ; a lab test has been conducted for the development of a dynamic ergonomic mock-up using the 2D map display HMI integrating the various use cases and the needs and requirements of bus drivers identified at the first survey ; a second survey has been conducted among a sample of bus drivers in France, in Italy and in Sweden in order to test and validate the design solutions integrated in the ergonomic mock ; the ergonomic mock-up was used as guidance to update the driver assistant systems from Fleetech and Mizar in an ergonomic way. ; RAPPORT DE CONTRAT
