Résumé / Abstract
Insecurity and uncivil acts in public transports constitute a critical issue for users and operators. It may affect the attractiveness of service use and increase maintenance costs. This context induces a real need for on board intelligent video surveillance systems allowing real time (prevention, intervention) and delayed (investigation) efficient security management. This paper presents the research project SURTRAIN, funded by the French Research Agency ANR, that aimed at the demonstration of an embedded surveillance system in commercial conditions. An important improvement of the system concerns the combination of audio and video for the recognition and localization of abnormal situation on board in a static and dynamic context. A dedicated sound localizer algorithm has been developed for shouts and paint bomb spraying using a multi dimensional statistical model for several reference areas in the coach. A video tracker based on particle filtering was designed that aimed at taking into account specific on-board characteristics. Finally, an integrated and operational platform, based on PLC technology was set and tested in commercial service.
