Résumé / Abstract
Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), the aims of the present study were to examine the actual behaviors and the acceptability of the rules of eco-driving and to predict two behavioral components of eco-driving among French motorists (N= 1243). Additional TPB factors were taken into account - descriptive norm, expanded descriptive norm, environmental problem awareness, concern for reducing car-related environmental problem, actual eco-driving behaviors and perceived difficulty to adopt these behaviors. Most of self-reported eco-driving behaviors were already existing practices. However, the purpose of eco-driving is not well understood by the most of motorists because the ecological reason is perceived as the least important to intent to perform eco-driving behaviors. They did not link between to handle headway and to save fuel. The intention to perform eco-driving behaviors was predicted by attitudes, norms and concern for reducing car-related environmental problem. The results were sensitive to age and penalty for speeding. We identified here several arguments that could be used for influence motorists to adopt eco-driving behaviors.
