Résumé / Abstract
The main focus of this paper is to develop to travel time and its variability estimation technique to accommodate sources of unreliability which include effects of incidents and accidents, erroneous traffic counts or traffic flow fluctuations, with as little loss in operational efficiency as possible. More precisely, this study deals with a multi-source estimate of travel times and attempts to provide a comprehensive framework for the utilization of multiple data and demonstrate the feasibility of a travel time estimation and its variability based on Evidential fusion of heterogeneous data with connection to network reliability analysis. The implementation of this methodology has demonstrated that, in each case, better results, as measured by correctly classified rates, are achieved with fusion than with methods based on a single data source and offers a convenient way to apprehend travel time distributions.
