Résumé / Abstract
In order to improve exploitation modes inside guided transports, low cost microwave collision avoidance sytems are being developed in laboratories. These systems are especially useful in case of blocking vehicle inside guided lines or bad weather conditions on roads. We will present in this paper, original radar system, which has the particularities not only to work both in free and confined areas but also combines location and communication functionalities. So that new applications or services could be envisaged. For example, the system could be used to provide information to the driver or operating centre when the safety or margin distance between follower and preceding vehicles becomes insufficient. The proposed radar is based on cooperative system which uses transponder principle where targets become active. Some simulations results are given in this paper. The tests achieved, in tunnel and free areas using a laboratory radar mock-up realized are presented. In the second part, the new radar system using Ultra wide band technique is proposed. This system permits to increase the detection performance in term on precision, treatment delay and reconnaissance of detected obstacles.
