Résumé / Abstract
This paper presents two methods to estimate fundamental diagrams (FD) from cumulative vehicle count curves (CVC) of two successive loop detectors. Data come from the M6 highway near Manchester, UK. The CVC formulation of LWR model provides reliable methods overcoming the limitations of existing methods. These methods aim to determine the optimal parameters of this model on on-field data. The first method is an iterative method based on testing various values of parameters. The second one studies the propagation of waves. Finally, this paper proves that the FD is linear in its congested part. Both methods furnish accurate FD estimation.
