Résumé / Abstract
This paper presents the European Research Project BOSS, which deals with automatic event detection and real-time video transmission towards control centers in order to develop a more intelligent and efficient embedded video-surveillance system for trains. Firstly, security issues concerning suburban trains in France and the general objectives of the project are introduced. Secondly the railway operator's needs are presented. Then the foreseen work in the domains of real-time video transmission and of automatic event detection is presented.
