Résumé / Abstract
Increasing pressures from customers throughout electronic commerce (EC) push on the forefront of new concepts for distribution and warehouse systems. The present day world becomes smaller and the reach of manufacturing firms processes have become more extensive both in their acquisition and in their delivery through supply chain planning and management models. Inevitably we get to the situation in which no one firm may be allowed to be dominant in the chain. There is thus a clear need to consider the strategy of each partner to arrange synergistic links for their mutual benefit. In this paper we will review the role of new technology in this transformation and the consequences on their arrangement for practical supply chains. We will also investigate the need for dynamic alliances so that we may suggest how a global manufacturer might best relate to all its potential partners - from a strategic, structural, technological and cultural viewpoint.
