Résumé / Abstract
the international market for freight transport and logistics is becoming increasingly complex because of the interaction of several factors, some of which exogenous and others endogenous to the sector. while several studies have focussed on the users of transport and logistics services in europe, little attention has been paid to lsps - logistics services providers. the present contribution analyses, in particular, the european lsp market, where in the last twenty years significant changes have occurred. such changes have subsequently determined new challenging issues for operators, thus affecting their behaviours and competitive strategies. in the first part of the paper, different factors for change will be explored to highlight the main issues arising for transport and logistics operators in the european context. the second part, which is based on a survey conducted by the author involving the first 20 lsps in europe, will give evidence to logistics operators' reactions in terms of adopted strategic options in order to cope with such changes.
