Résumé / Abstract
This paper presents a Human centred design process followed to guide the future development of a Driver Support System (DSS) for school bus drivers. Information and Communication Technology ( ICT) functionalities made available to support school bus driver could be an added value for road safety as long as drivers' needs and constraints are taken into account for the in-vehicle system design. The various steps followed are presented: definition of use case for the innovative system, principle of ergonomic inspection of system, survey among school bus drivers to identify context of use, setting up of an ergonomic mock-up and evaluation of the mock up functionalities among bus drivers. Finally, acceptability and usability of functionalities have been evaluated through a transcultural survey conducted among French, Italian and Swedish bus drivers' population.
