Résumé / Abstract
The VERTEC project is an EC 5th Framework research project. It aims at improving the Vehicle active safety by developing an integrated model for the simulation of the road-tyre-vehicle-driver system in the most dangerous situations. The model was developed under VDSIM environment. Two loops of simulations have been done with this model, which represents 260 simulations. The second loop has been defined in view of testing the effect of electronic control systems on specific situations. For braking manoeuvres, only the effect of ABS is tested. For cornering manoeuvres and avoidance manoeuvres, only the ESP effect is taken into account considering the fact that new cars always have ABS.
The analyse of the two sets of simulations give some results about some safety limits. Nevertheless, the aim of task 7a is not completely reached. A complementary work is necessary for precising the first results. Some results were obtained for cornering manoeuvres about the limits that can be used for the parameters of analyses like the side slip angle or the lateral acceleration (“Ay – V2/R” < 1 for safe manoeuvres). The braking manoeuvres at 90 km/h showed the role of ABS on the side slip angle and the effect for driver safety. Lastly, the avoidance manoeuvres gave tracks for next studies.
