Résumé / Abstract
Motorcycle riders have a pronounced vulnerability and crash risk with a high prevalence of human error as a contributory factor in crashes. So there appears to be substantial potential for Advanced Rider Assistance systems to improve their safety. However, the benefit of these systems for riding safety depends on riders’ responses to them. This chapter presents research on the acceptability and acceptance of Advanced Rider Assistance Systems. Factors that influence riders’ acceptance are identified and discussed. Indicators of the need for assistance technologies to enhance safety are contrasted with riders’ views of different types of systems.
