Résumé / Abstract
An increasing number of discharge measuring devices are implemented in sewer networks for various purposes. Selecting locations for these devices may prove difficult, as the efficiency of available sensors strongly rely on hydraulic conditions. In addition, we focus on singularities, which are common occurrences in sewer networks. Flow rate measurements sites often happen to be located downstream of a singularity as sewer systems are actually a succession of singularities. This paper aims to provide an assessment of the effect of a particular kind of singularity, namely a bend, on the velocity field and on its representativeness of measures performed by velocity sensors. CFD is used to investigate the effects of channel geometry (diameter of the circular channel, deviation angle), inlet velocities and water level.
