Résumé / Abstract
It is possible to detect several different methodological approaches in research into motor vehicle structure with respect to secondary safety. These approaches may differ according to the stand-point of the person who initiates the research. It is noticeable that a designer and a legislator, for example, although perhaps appearing to start with the same concerns, can use extremely different methodologies, Even if they are able to collaborate effectively. The author will tackle this question by describing several methods of research using as a basis an example which is currently under discussion, namely the performance of vehicles subjected to lateral impact.
