Résumé / Abstract
Perceptual difficulties are one of the main explanations of behavioral modifications and the high rate of accidents in fog. In a series of experiments we investigated the effects on the perception of vehicle distance. Fog not only reduces the amount of visual information available but also modifies the distance cue of the aerial perspective. On the basis of the results it seems that better legislation is needed and in particular that real fog-light design should be standardized with regard to number of lights and their spacing.
