Résumé / Abstract
The development of the new telematic tools - components of intelligent transport systems - makes it possible to consider innovative approaches in the field of incident management. A new practice, especially based on the availability of the video machine vision, is tested on a motorway network in the Paris region. The paper describes three different contributions of this technology for incident management. These applications concern the knowledge of the characteristics of incidents, incident detection and a new fast warning function. The practical results are illustrated in each field, demonstrating to decision makers and operators various contributions of the video technology in road incident management.
