Résumé / Abstract
Noise, defined as an undesired sound, supposes an acoustic emission the sound - and a perception which annoys, disturbs and even stresses the person who hears it. In french, the word 'noise' actually means annoyance and quarrelling. Noise effects are assessed by the descriptive methods of psycho acoustics. Annoyance studies using questionnaire surveys, are carried out to propose noise thresholds, mainly for the auditory effects of exposure to noise from industry and entertainment and for transport noise sources, because these are annoying and may be stressful. Noise acts as a human stressor and the final impact depends on the degree of human resistance.
