Résumé / Abstract
The relationship between the subjective sensation and the static force level applied to an automobile pedal was investigated in this paper. Subjective perception of pedal force exertion is based on borg's10-point category ratio scale. The sensation is related to the pedal force by power functions for different drivers groups. We found that the interval between «weak» and «moderate» on the borg's scale can be used to determine the upper limit of an active accelerator pedal force, which is distinct from the resting force and judged to be «very hard but acceptable».
