Résumé / Abstract
This research is part of the Human Engineering Program developed in the French Institute of Research on Transport and Safety (INRETS - Laboratory of Health ant ergonomics). The aim of this program is to gather data and to structure knowledge about road user behavior, traffic task and road environment. The goal is to create a knowledge base which will integrate theoretical concepts, empirical data and INRETS researchers expertise in a common framework. In this paper, we consider the part of the program relative to driver modeling and human information processing We propose a general perceptivo-cognitive model of the driver, COSMODRIVE (COgnitive SImulation MOdel of the DRIVEr), and we describe its computer architecture according to its main components. In the second part, we give a more detailed description of a particular component of this model (the TacticalModule). We use OMT formalism (Object-Oriented Modeling Technique)of Rumbaugh et al (1991) to describe permanent driver's knowledge and cognitive processes involved in the driving task. We conclude by the advantage of OMT in terms of cognitive modeling.
