Résumé / Abstract
The aim of the modem project was to determine the link between kinematics and unit emissions of passenger cars in urban areas. Representative driving cycles were built and emission measurements were performed over 150 cars (diesel, gasoline, equipped or not with a catalyst). The modal analysis allows us to propose a two dimensional emission model including the following variables: instantaneous speed and the product of speed by acceleration for all the 11 vehicle classes studied. We calculated the effects of changes in vehicle behaviour representing two differents levels of traffic control on emissions: it showed potential reduction of about 10% for most pollutants and vehicle types. Then the cost 319 action 'estimation of pollutant emissions from transport' is now developed on an European basis in 3 subgroups: - emission factors and functions; - traffic characteristics; - inventorying tools.
