Third octave band analysis of test tracks texture profiles from ISO TC 43/SC1/WG33

The ISO working group TC 43/SC1/WG33 is engaged in the standardisation of the nearfield measurement method of tyre/road noise (CPX method). The German laboratory TUV has compared CPX measurement methods currently used by 8 laboratories. The measurement program included SPB measurements, CPX measurements, texture measurements and absorption measurements on 13 different road surfaces. The geometric characteristics of the different test tracks have been obtained by measuring linear surface texture with a device called 'Automatic Road Analyser'. These measurements permit to evaluate the Mean Profile Depth values and the third-octave band spectra of the test tracks. These results have been compared with noise measurements results. INRETS was asked to evaluate the third octave band analysis results. The present report gives the texture spectra obtained with the software developed at INRETS.
