Résumé / Abstract
A working group on accident analysis has been set up for the European contract 'Compatibility' dealing with compatibility between cars in car-to-car impacts, in collaboration with research organisations of other members countries. This work is about frontal car-to-car impact incompatibility. It represents the French contribution for the accident analysis working group on global analysis and on in-depth analysis. These two levels of analyses (global analysis and in-depth analysis) have shown that the mass difference between the two cars involved in the impact is the most important parameter related to the level of incompatibility between the two cars. This level of incompatibility has been estimated by the difference of severity of the occupant injuries (we talk about lesional incompatibility). Other parameters have an effect on lesional incompatibility, such as geometry and stiffness of the front end of the car and the age of the injured car occupants. However accident data we got in the different databases used are not sufficiently detailed to distinguish the contribution of each of the different parameters on compatibility. Structural car parameters and experimental data on car behaviour during impact are missing. This problem is going to be solved by studies related to other working groups of the 'Compatibility' project., RAPPORT DE CONTRAT
