Résumé / Abstract
The effects of holes or cutouts on dynamic and static axial crushing of straight thin-walled aluminium extrusions are experimentally studied. Cutouts are introduced along the tube generator, in order to decrease the first peak load on the load-displacement characteristic and control the collapse mode. A comparison between static tests results and dynamic ones is done. Numerical simulations with the explicit finite element code PAM-CRASH are conducted to confirm experiments results.
