Résumé / Abstract
The APM concept is now about thirty years old, and many evolutions have to be taken into consideration as regards definitions, size of the vehicles, operational characteristics, technical principles. A recent evolution is the full automation of heavy metros, but there remain at the same time a big variety of middle sized APMS, and some of them have chosen the concept of active guideway. Most of APMS are discontinuous, but developments also have been carried out on semi-continuous and continuous systems. Some recent research concerns the ambitious concept of PRT, but a main tendency is the technical evolution of classical APMS.
