Résumé / Abstract
The paper describes the role of the INRETS-CRESTA safety team in the validation of safety software for MAGGALY, the Lyon unmanned subway (which came into service in september 1992). This validation was performed by a test committee which consisted of four independent teams of experts (the manufacturer MATRA-Transport, the monitoring body INRETS, the consultant SOFRETU and the main building contractor SEMALY). The final test committee report was essential condition for MAGGALY to be allowed to come into service. INRETS was very much involved in the activities of the test committee, however, in accordance with its position as a research body, it also extended its activities by developing a specific automatic verification tool.
