Résumé / Abstract
For a few years in France, urban transport professionals have been concerned with coping with the needs of a highly varied population and making urban transport networks accessible to all, including people with a reduced mobility. With a system approach, the specification for accessibility can be taken into account resulting in a transport chain without any physical barriers. After briefly recalling what the demographic stakes are, this paper reviews the technical choices and operating modes concerning the light rail transport systems (tramway, light automated subway Val) and regular line buses. Then it presents the research directions towards systems which integrate the urban environment.
