Résumé / Abstract
With 55.8 millions inhabitants (1988) for 550000 sqkm, France appears as a low density country (100inh/sqkm) compared to such neighbours as Belgium, Germany, or the Netherlands. This report presents the future population trends and prospects. The evolution of the population is linked with the evolution of land use and is a consequence of the economic crisis. Tables are presented with details on various trends concerning population and economy in France.
