Résumé / Abstract
This chapter presents a comparative analysis of the role of transportation and circulation of goods, information and people in the changing industrial and spatial organization of production. In the conceptual framework of the chapter, we will develop the idea of a circulatory dimension of proximity in the coordination between economic agents. 'Circulatory proximity' refers to the quality of coordination in the circulation of goods, information and people in production systems and goes beyond the standard concept of accessibility and transportation costs.
