Résumé / Abstract
COST action 319 was set up in 1993, within this context of increasing international cooperation, with the overall objective of coordinating European research activities relating to emissions of pollutants, fuel consumption and energy use of transport. For the first time, the four main transport modes (road, rail, air and water) were considered together, as were all levels of calculation - from local and instantaneous emissions to long-term global estimates. One of the main reasons for the extension of the action was to enable it to take advantage of work carried out in the 4th framework project MEET (methodologies for estimating air pollutant emissions from transport).
