Résumé / Abstract
The emergence of new technologies for traffic monitoring, data processing and communication opens encouraging perspectives in the field of incident management. Innovative telematic tools make it possible to consider new approaches in this domain. The expected improvements concern incident detection, the organization of human resources, the rapid notification and fast warning of intervention units and the information of road users. An innovative incident management practice, especially based on the availability of the video machine vision, is now tested on a motorway network in the paris region. The paper describes the different implementation steps of this promising and original approach. It also underlines the first results and lessons gained from this real life experimentation.
