Résumé / Abstract
In urban areas traffic noise, considered as one of the most important public annoyances, is generated by unstable traffic. Measurements of acceleration pass-by noise are needed in order to be able to predict any change in traffic sound levels when traffic regulation devices (e.g. lights) are installed. Studying vehicles running on test tracks can easily arrive at these measurements. The method described in this paper is based on simultaneous measurements of kinematic data, mechanical parameters and acoustic levels. First results obtained on cars show significant differences between acceleration levels and cruise levels obtained at the same speeds. These first results are compared to conclusions made in recent literature.
